Price Schedule (current from July 2017)

When calculating the cost of a funeral service, two main factors must be considered:

1. The coffin or casket. We offer a wide variety of caskets and coffins, with prices ranging from $490.00 to $15,000.00. Our median coffin price ranges from $700.00 to $1900.00. (See our Coffins and Caskets page.)

2. Grave or cremation fees. In the Brisbane area, grave fees vary according to the type of grave or funeral that is chosen. Traditional Burial Cemetery Prices range from $1,700.00 to $11,880.00. If you wish to choose a Vault these vary in price and can be as much as up to $30,000.00.

To make things easier, Academy Funerals have designed a number of options for both burial and cremation. These are fixed fees and include our professional services and the items listed within each option.

Please note that variances may occur if you wish to modify the type of coffin or casket that is included in your chosen option. Additional costs such as flowers etc are extras on top of the quoted prices.

Please note that all prices are able to be negotiated with variances of product with the exception of Option 1 which is a fixed charge.

In the event that the death occurs after normal business hours (9am – 5pm Monday to Friday) in the family home, care facility or hospital (without mortuary services) a further fee of $440.00 for transfer of the deceased into our care may apply.  This fee may also apply if the transfer of the deceased is not able to be completed during normal business hours by Academy Funerals staff.

The below options should not be viewed as the only choices available to families. Please contact us to discuss options outside of these listed.

Funeral Service Options

  • Coffins – Quoted prices are mid-range. You can move up or down the price scale as your requirements dictate.
  • Flowers – You may request for a larger spray or the family may supply their own if they wish.
  • Certified copy of Death Certificate – As the Death Certificate is required for estate purposes unless requested Academy Funerals always apply for one on your behalf.
  • Memorial Book – Many families do not wish to use this book, however, we are happy to supply one if it is requested.
  • News Paper Notice – It is not necessary to advertise a funeral in the press. Over 80% of funerals do not appear in the newspapers, nevertheless, if requested, we are able to arrange for this to occur.
  • Electronic Advertisements – With prior approval from the family, Academy Funerals will advertise the funeral of your loved one at NO CHARGE on both the company Facebook and Website. There are NO size restrictions on the notice and all notices are E-Mailed to the family for approval before they are posted. Research has shown that more people have discovered that the death has occurred via electronic means than the printed media.
  • Funeral Zone – Free subscription to Funeral Zone which is a dedicated memorial site that allows photographs to be posted by family and friends of the deceased. Visitors are also able to light virtual candles and leave comments for the family.
  • Order of Service / Bookmarks – Many families prefer to produce these themselves however we are happy to produce and supply if requested.
  • Playing of Music at the Service – Most crematoriums and churches have provision for playing of music. This is preferably achieved by the use of CDs as opposed to USB or other mediums. Most crematoriums also have provisions for the use of a DVD if requested.
  • Live Musicians – Academy Funerals have the ability to provide a variety of live musicians on request. We have access to Organists, Buglers, Singers and other professional musicians as required.
  • Military Requirements – An Australian, New Zealand and English flag and Medal Stand are available at all times for use by our service men. We also have a recorded version of the Last Post and Reveille (or a live bugler can be arranged if preferred). Poppies are also available for us within the service. We also liaise with local RSL Clubs to ensure that one of their members are available to speak and lead a poppy parade during the service.
  • Dressing and Viewing – The option for family members to come and spend some reflective time with their loved one is available. Families are also able to assist with the dressing of their loved one if they wish to do so. If the family does not wish to participate our trained and caring staff will attend to your loved one for you.
  • Catering Catering at most crematoriums can be very expensive and you will often be limited on time. We are able to offer helpful suggestions in your local area of restaurants, pubs or clubs that offer catering at reasonable prices.
  • Hearse – Our hearse is a modern five seater vehicle with a wider bier for to cater for larger sized coffins. The extra seats are available for family members who wish to travel with their loved ones. The use of the hearse is included within our professional fees as quoted above.
  • Doves / Butterflies – If requested, we are able to arrange to have doves or butterflies released as a part of the funeral service.
